Heirs, a drama that got a lot of hype for nothing- honestly the drama stayed on my radar for the wrong reasons. Choi Young-do- played by Kim Woo bin(moment of silence), Lee Bo Na- Krystal Jung aka Krystal from f(x), and Rachel Yoo- Kim Ji-won(also in Fight for My Way) were in my opinion the only reasons to keep watching the show.
The writers always make the “bad guys”, or I should say the characters that have potential be more, the interesting ones. In this drama especially the main characters are warped caring only about themselves until it of course affects them i.e. Kim Tan. The writers do Rachel a huge disservice by linking her to him no matter how many how many times he disrespected her she kept going back. Sometimes you just want to grab the writers and smack ‘em with kimchi,
I mean why write Rachel- intelligent, beautiful and clever then make her like Sakura Haruna- BEAUTIFUL, STRONG
and a waste of time. The Kim Tan character was just a spoiled brat with issues that overlapped everyone’s feelings. His investment in himself went so far as to follow a girl, that didn’t like him and got robbed in front of him- he watched and didn’t do a thing-to Korea. That’s another thing Cha Eun-sang(played by Park Shin-hye aka great actress) falling in love with him made no sense other than the fact that she’s a naïve teen, and since that’s the case makes perfect sense. Kim Tan’s character just isn’t good. He lived in America for years, but can’t speak English better than Rachel who only visits sometimes.
Then we move onto his drug addict American friend who tried to sniff rice flour, or whatever that was, because we all know Americans are drug addicts and gangsters (according to Hotel King).* The writers just did not do a good job in catching the attention of viewers in the first few episodes. The things that keep you there at first are the mediocre slapstick jokes that downplay the real problems of a poor girl’s life that is constant ruin. Ultimately, I’m sure it got hyped up because of how much production went into it, because as we speak I’m still on episode 4 if I got that far and that’s as far as I’ll go. That was my experience if you’d like to share own feelings you’re free to in the comments and please tell me Rachel didn’t become Sakura or worse Hinata.
*I will say they show their own ghettos too, especially in Nice Guy.Tags: #kimchislap, #mangamadness, animestreet, dramaofthemoment, kdrama, kimjiwon, kimwoobin, krystaljung, leeminho, parkhyungksik, parkshinhye, Sakura Syndrome
